The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training® is the world's largest endurance sports training program. The program provides training to run or walk a whole or half marathon or participate in a triathlon or century (100-mile) bike ride. Since 1988, more than 265,000 volunteer participants have helped raise more than $595 million.
When I first decided to join Team In Training, needless to say I was a bit overwhelmed by the idea of training for a 26.2 mile run and raising $7,800 in only a matter of months. I decided that I was up for the challenge and I was depending on my determination to get me through the difficulties I was to face with the physical training, and I relied on my family, friends, co-workers, and the kindness of strangers to get me through the fundraising process.
Now, with only a few weeks until the marathon, my running partner Heather and I have been able to go the distance, not only with our training, but with our fundraising too. The kindness of my co-workers at Educational Tools, Inc. played a big part in helping us reach our goal. By pulling together through individual donations and participation in fundraising events, the employees at Educational Tools were able to raise $1,570 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Myron Pincomb, the President of Educational Tools, was then kind enough to surprise Heather and I with a matching donation in the amount of $1,570. Thanks to the help of all the wonderful, caring, and generous individuals at Educational Tools, Inc., we raised $3,140. Heather and I have been able to raise a total of $10,250 for our cause, and we hope that number continues to increase as we near the day of the marathon
I would like to thank all of you at Educational Tools for your kind and generous support! I can not tell you what it means to me to have my co-workers and company support me in such a life-changing way. Your contributions will make a difference in the lives of many. You should all be proud of your efforts! I know I am very proud to be part of a company that is so willing and driven to help others in need Again, thank you!
